Arnica - Natural Remedy
Interestingly Arnica is from the sunflower family.
Arnica produces daisy like flowers with a yellow-orange colour with soft hairy leaves in late spring to early summer. Arnica grows to a height of 30 to 60cm and is found in East Asia, Europe, Northern United States and Canada. Arnica doesn't grow well in the United Kingdon due to the type of soil and the climate it requires, but there is a small area in the north of Scotland called the Black Isle where Arnica is known to be grown.
The flower of the arnica plant is the part used for the traditional herbal natural remedy and this has been used since the 1500's and is still used today in creams, ointments and oils to help treat bruising, muscle pain and sprains.
Arnica is also used as a homeopathic remedy which can be taken internally.
Arnica Herbal Natural Remedy should not be used on broken skin, or those who have an allergic reaction to plants in the Asteraceae (Compositae) family, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Weleda is well known for their Arnica Products which includes, Arnica Bumps and Bruises Skin Salve, Arnica Massage Balm, Arnica Muscle Soak, Arnica Massage Oil.
A newcomer to the world of Arnica Natural Remedy is the Organii Soothing Arnica Gel.
